About

The Nittany Composite Squadron started as the Juniata Valley Flight of the Penn State Composite Squadron in 2005 and met first at the Mifflin County Airport in Reedsville, PA. In the summer of 2006, the squadron relocated to Centre Air Park in Centre Hall, PA, the previous home of Squadron 1301. On September 19, 2006, after only ten months as a chartered flight and demonstrating considerable growth, the squadron was formally chartered by Civil Air Patrol headquarters as the Nittany Composite Squadron.

In December 2008, we moved to the University Park Airport. The original space was shared between Group 5 headquarters and the squadron. In July, 2016 the squadron moved to new, dedicated space on the airport next to the general aviation terminal. A portion of the old space is retained for Group use and as an operational support activity activity, serving as a communications relay site to fulfill CAP's various air and ground missions.

Most recently due to construction at University Park Airport. We have been holding meeting at the Army Reserve Center in Bellefonte, with hopes to continue to use both facilities in the future.

There are plenty of volunteer opportunities in the Nittany Composite Squadron for everyone ages 12 and up in the State College and surrounding areas. From serving your community to assisting in search and rescue missions, the Civil Air Patrol offers real-world experience in building leadership skills that will last a lifetime.
